How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign

Invisalign is used to correct various dental problems such as teeth that are widely gapped, overly crowded, or a combination of both. To start your Invisalign® treatment, you will begin with a consultation with Dr. Tee McClimans to determine if you are a suitable candidate. We suggest that you take this opportunity to ask any questions you may have about Invisalign including costs, insurance, and any other concerns.

Using x-rays and impression of your teeth to create a digital 3-D image, we will go over your treatment plan of how your teeth will look and how long the treatment will last. Based on your individualized plan, a series of custom-made, clear aligners will be made specifically for you. The aligners are made of a BPA-free clear plastic that fit easily over your teeth to ensure comfort and ease of wear.

How Long Do I Have To Wear Invisalign?

Approximately every two weeks, you will be given a new set of clear aligners that must be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. This will ensure the fastest and best results throughout the Invisalign treatment process. We also suggest you schedule a follow-up appointment with Dr. McClimans every 8 to 10 weeks to monitor your progress.

Since every patient is different, the treatment time may vary; however, we typically say that on average it would take 9 to 15 months. If you combine your Invisalign treatment with AcceleDent, it is possible to reduce this time by 50%. Once the treatment is complete, you will need retainers to maintain and protect your new beautiful smile.

How Do I Maintain My Invisalign?

Since Invisalign is designed to be removable, you can easily take them out to clean your teeth, to eat, and to drink. To clean your clear aligners, you can simply brush and rinse them with lukewarm water.
